Twitter To Get Labs Feature?

by Greg Bussmann on October 2, 2009

A report on CNET says that Twitter will soon add experimental features similar to what Google has done with Google Labs in some of their apps, like Gmail.

Details are not available, but Britt Selvitelle, Twitter’s user experience and front end engineering lead, said at a conference in London that Twitter will soon launch it’s own Twitter labs.

The service will let developers create add-ons and other functions for the microblogging site. Of course, developers can already do this with Twitter’s API, but this will make Twitter a formal participant in the process.

An ‘untweet my last tweet‘ feature might be a good one…what would you like to see?

  • Deleting a tweet can already be done, and most clients support that. It could be easier though by making it a function outside of having to dig back to find that tweet.

Twitter is already doing a better job with their API via the Twitter API blog. It is used to keep developers informed of API changes and upcoming changes.
