LinkedIn Getting Redesigned

by Greg Bussmann on November 6, 2009

Some users of LinkedIn may be noticing some changes this morning as the popular online networking site announced it is testing out a new design in a limited rollout. Personally, I have always thought the LinkedIn interface was a bit of a mess, so these changes look like a major step in the right direction.

If you are not seeing any changes yet, here is a look at what’s new:

  1. A global navigation bar at the top of the page that provides convenient access to all LinkedIn services.
  2. Simplified local navigation within each of the LinkedIn areas (Profile, Contacts, Groups, etc.).
  3. More room available for page content. Less scrolling.
  4. A cleaner, less-cluttered look.

It looks like one of the main changes is that the left hand navigation bar has been moved to the top:

I have yet to be upgraded here, so I can not comment directly on the redesign, but I think from the announcement and these screenshots that it looks promising.

If you have the new design already, let me know what you think.

Oh, and if you would like to connect to with me on LinkedIn, here’s my profile.
