How To Feed Your Blog To Your Facebook Fans

by Russ Henneberry on January 12, 2010

I couldn’t ignore it any longer.

Facebook seems to be cracking down on using the Facebook profile for business purposes and (to make my decision easier) I have always suspected that I was misusing my profile for business purposes.  As I began to see more and more internet marketers that I respect moving their business communications to a Facebook fan page, I decided to make the move myself.

In the process, I learned a lot that may benefit you if you have or plan to have a Facebook page for your organization.  If you don’t know how to build a fan page, this 5 minute video will guide you through the process.

Integrating Your Blog Content

The first thing I wanted to do was to feed the content from my blog into my fan page.  This way, any fans of my page would begin to receive updates from my blog in their Facebook profile news feed.

The process is fairly simple.

Start by clicking on “Edit Page” on the Wall of your Facebook fan page.

Now, scroll down to the section called “Notes” and click on “Edit.”

On the right side of this page, click on the link called “Import a blog.”

Type the RSS feed of your blog into the field called “Web URL” and click on “Start Importing.”

You’re almost done! After verifying that your blog feed has been imported click on “Confirm Import.”

Congratulations your blog feed has been integrated into your Fan Page!

Russ Henneberry writes and speaks about Content Marketing and how tiny businesses can make mighty profits using a personal computer, a little imagination and a few well-placed dollars.

Check the calendar page for details about Russ’s event this Thursday night (01/14)!

Have You Ever Needed An Easy Way to Print Web Pages Better?

by Greg Bussmann on October 12, 2009

I found this little bookmarklet called Printliminator that allows you to easily reformat web pages for printing. You can both remove extraneous information you do not want to print, like ads; or you can use it to just pick one section of a page, if that is all you need to print.

If you go to the Printliminator site, you can watch a brief demo video and be up and running in a few minutes. There is not much more to it, I found the utility useful, so I thought I would share. Let me know if you like it.

Dropbox Passes Two Million User Plateau

by Greg Bussmann on September 28, 2009

Online file sharing service Dropbox has surpassed 2 million users. The San Franciso company was one of last year’s finalists for the TechCrunch 50 awards. I mention this because I think Dropbox is a highly useful application that anyone not using it should know about.

What is Dropbox? I think this is one of the companies biggest issues, it is somewhat hard to explain to new users. However, I think the simplest way to think of it is as a “virtual” usb drive.

Say you have one  computer at home and one at work. You would download the Dropbox application to each one. That would give you a folder called My Dropbox on each machine. Now say it is five o’clock and you are ready to leave the office, but you are not done with a  spreadsheet that is due tomorrow. Well, with Dropbox, you would save the spreadsheet to your My Dropbox folder, where it would then sync to your home computer. When yo got home, you would open the My Dropbox folder on that machine, and there is your spreadsheet.

Your information is also synced to your own online storage space, so the program is also a backup utility.

Further, you can use it to share files by ‘inviting’ your friends to access certain parts of your Dropbox folder.

Dropbox comes in both free and paid versions. There is much more detailed information about how to use the service available at their website.

Nocs Is A Notepad For Google Docs

September 28, 2009

Nocs looks just like Notepad, the standard Windows text utility that has been around forever. However, Nocs connects itself with your Google Docs account, saving your text notes there instead of to your local computer.
You can even encrypt the files before sending them off to Google.
I downloaded it, connected it to my Google account and [...]

Can’t Tweet at Work? Try SpreadTweet

September 22, 2009

I found this application the other day. It basically is a Twitter client made to look like a spreadsheet to ostensibly give your boss the impression you are working. To be honest, I have not tested the download version, only the web-based one, and I found it to be a little clunky. Or said another [...]

Get Rid Of Facebook Notifications

August 25, 2009

Tired of all those notifications every time somebody buys you a drink on Facebook? Tech blog Mashable posted a nice how to article last week that shows you have to turn off that little red button at the bottom of your profile page, or at least limit what it lets you know about.
Read the instructions [...]

10 Quick Tips for Using Twitter to Promote Your Business

June 19, 2009

I get asked a lot about using social media to promote my business, and using Twitter to do so in particular. While I always stress that there is not a single right way to do this, and that no one has all the answers, and that different things work for different products and brands, I [...]
