Bowlher09 is a companion event to BlogHer09. Bowlher09 is like the after party on Saturday night. These were held all over the country though and networked together. This made it interesting with several live video feeds, including not only from BlogHer in Chicago, but St. Louis and places like Denver.
The St. Louis version of BowlHer09 was organized and hosted by the Mommy Manual team. That’s the fine looking set of ladies in the picture at the top, Ria, Suzanne, and Maggie. They chose to have the proceeds donated to Parents as Teachers.
From the site:
My Mommy Manual, Bevitoré Wine Boutique, Kakao Chocolate and Abstrakt Art Gallery co-host an evening of wine & chocolate tasting and mingling to benefit Parents As Teachers.
- Learn how to pair wine and host a wine tasting
- Silent Auction and Raffle featuring fine art from the gallery and a 4-week Argentinian Tango session with Michael Flanagan
- There might even be dancing thanks to our DJ, Michael F.! (*wink*)

The event was well attended, with many choosing to donate and enter the raffle. I chose to enter as well as the prizes were nice. One of the prizes was four weeks of Tango lessons, another a painting by Paco Rosic. Great prizes for a $25 raffle.
Speaking of Tango. There was Tango dancing.
Ria’s Tango dance crew showed up to support this event and more than a few took to the dance floor. Watching them slide across the floor made me hope I was going to win the Tango lessons over the art.
Wrapping this article up, I wanted to mention that beyond girls in black dresses, wine tasting, and Tango dancing, there was food. Kakao Chocolate provided some delicacies.
Tie in with Bowlher09 events across the US was done via laptop with built in camera. Ria relocated the computer throughout the event. Providing a view of the registration desk, the conversations, and even the dancing really helped share the fun and spirit of the St. Louis version.
Abstrakt Art Gallery was a beautiful venue for this event. Walls were covered with pieces by Paco Rosic, it was well lit and left me with a welcoming and open feel. The decor was simple but very neat and well cared for. Tables and chairs were provided in addition to a cozy couched area with big screen TV. BowlHer09 TV was on the big screen all night.
Ladies, you did a great job. Your crew, Pierre from Bevitoré Wine Boutique, the staff of Kakao Chocolate put together an event both pleasing to the palette and the spirt. Cheers.
